DR AVI FRIEDMAN GIVES SUSTAINABILITY LECTURE AT GWP OFFICES

The practice was fortunate to have Dr Avi Friedman from McGill University, Montréal in the office over the last few days discussing recent developments in sustainable design. These discussions culminated in a presentation to the practice by the Professor that included his current standing on sustainability, his most recent work in Ontario and Alberta in Canada and his latest ideas and thoughts on sustainable developments.

We originally collaborated with Dr Avi Friedman back in 2007, following his work on the ‘Grow House’ and ‘Next Home’This research lead to the development of the ‘Accent Home’ and Student Accommodation projects at Lancaster University.

Avi Friedman began his architectural studies at the Politecnico di Milano in Italy, received his Bachelor of Architecture from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology in 1980 (first in class/cum laude) and his Master of Architecture from McGill University in Montréal. Between 1982 and 1984, Dr. Friedman worked as head of design for a homebuilding firm in Montréal. He received his Doctorate in 1987 from the Université de Montréal. In 1988 he co-founded the Affordable Homes Program at the McGill School of Architecture
