We are pleased to announce GWP Project Services will be providing BREEAM and Sustainability consultancy services on the Shorehead Building at the University of Huddersfield (UoH). Plans have recently been submitted to Kirklees Council for this new landmark teaching facility on the prominent Shorehead roundabout corner of the city centre campus. The new academic building is targeting a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating, putting it in the top 1% of sustainable buildings in the UK.
The £27.5 million, six storey building, will provide 7,500sqm of academic use for the School of Law and the School of Music, Humanities and Media and will be constructed by GB Building Solutions to open in September 2016.
The Shorehead building is the latest high profile academic building GWP Project Services have been appointed on to deliver our multi BREEAM award winning service.
Lancaster University’s BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ certified Engineering Building is due to open in early March and the potentially BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ Kings College London Strand Campus redevelopment is currently in for planning approval, expected to complete in 2017. Our relationships with other leading Universities including the University of Leeds, Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Hertfordshire also continue to grow, furthermore establishing GWP as the countries leading BREEAM Assessment organisation, having certified more BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ buildings than any other assessor.
Barry Rankin, GWP Project Services Director, said: “We are delighted to continue our working relationship with the GB Group on this flagship project and I am personally pleased to be able to work on this scheme as an UoH alumnus, helping the University improve its student experience and achieve its sustainable aspirations.”
