This month the newly ‘installed’ Chancellor, Alan Milburn, officially opened the new home of Lancaster University’s Engineering department.

The building which has achieved a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating with a 85.80% assessed score at design stage, is the third BREEAM assessment GWP Project Services have consulted on at the Lancaster University Campus.

The building designed by John McAslan + Partners and shortlisted for a RIBA North West Award, comprises of 4,750 sqm of workshop, laboratory and office space in two concrete-framed finger blocks either side of a dramatic four storey atrium. The scheme also has a range of renewable energy sources including solar, wind and biomass provisions.
