GWP Project Services are proud to be providing BREEAM Assessment services for Leeds’ most prestigious hotel development in recent years, linked to the recently opened First Direct Leeds Area, due to complete in autumn 2015. It will provide upscale 5 star hotel accommodation over 14 storeys with 206 bedrooms, restaurant, bar and meeting facilities.
The building, designed by London based Dexter Moren Associates will sit within a brownfield, former car park site on the northern edge of the city centre. BREEAM Assessment was particularly challenging due to the high level specification of materials finishes both internally and externally, as well as the client requirement for climate control within occupied spaces and a strict design brief to meet the Hilton Worldwide brand.
GWP Project Services played a vital role in consultation with Leeds City Council planning department and their sustainability officer to demonstrate the building would meet the development performance standards and objectives set for buildings within the city centre district, the scheme was also registered under BREEAM 2008 which has given the main contractor GB Building Solutions the piece of mind that such a level of compliance can be delivered within the tight construction budget.
The site is just 300m from the 13,500 capacity First Direct Leeds Arena and adjacent to the University of Leeds Rose Bowl building, providing excellent transport links and local amenities.
